Vertical Space e-Magazine features Drone Girl in Spring 2022 issue

Here’s a magazine you should be subscribing to that won’t cost you a dime (and won’t cut down a tree, either). The quarterly Vertical Space e-Magazine is compiled by the team over at Women and Drones.

And yours truly (Sally French, The Drone Girl) has the honor of being featured in the Spring 2022 issue of the digital Vertical Space Magazine. The piece, written by Alicia Adams, shares my background story while offering advice on why you should write your own playbook (and how to do it!). I share advice for breaking into the drone industry, and provide encouraging reasons why women should get involved.

“One of the wonderful things about drones is that the controller doesn’t care if it is a male or female moving the sticks” I tell Adams. Check out the entire interview on Page 3 of the online magazine.

But that’s not the only reason you should be reading it. This issue is jam-packed with inspiring and educational content. The cover story focuses on highlighting women of color working within the drone industry. Meanwhile, a piece by drone attorney Loretta Alkalay discusses everything you need to know about blue drones, which is a term you might often hear when talking about drones and the U.S. government.

Vertical Space is a relatively new online publication, currently only on Issue No. 5. But, it’s put together by experts in the field. The magazine is led by Editorial Director Belinda Dow, who separately owns Dow GeoSpatial, a drone mapping services company. And it exists under the umbrella of online drone community Women and Drones, led by Sharon Rossmark.

Women and Drones has a myriad of other projects ongoing, including the annual Women to Watch in UAS awards and its annual diversity study. It also offers hands on drone flight training, a drone donation program and provides drone flight services too.
